A boozy Sunday brunch? Yes, please.
A boozy Sunday brunch with drag queens? Oh honey—hell yes.
Let’s face it: brunch is basically a social contract between friends that says, “I want to drink champagne before noon and call it classy.” And honestly, who are we to argue?
But let me tell you something—Drag Brunch takes your average mimosa-fueled feast and cranks it up to 11 with sequins, sass, and performances that’ll have you shouting “Yaaaas!” between bites of biscuits and gravy.
Last Sunday, Lance, the crew, and I waltzed into Mercedes Tavern in Akron, ready to sip, snack, and support some of the fiercest queens in the game.
Spoiler alert: They did not disappoint.
Hosted by the fabulous and fearlessly funny Veronika Katrell, the show was everything—glamorous, high-energy, and just the right amount of chaotic. (In the best possible way.)
If you haven’t visited Mercedes Neighborhood Tavern yet, darling, what are you even doing with your weekends?
Tucked away in Akron’s Wallhaven neighborhood at 1947 W. Market Street, this casual gem is part neighborhood bar, part live music and entertainment venue, and all about good vibes.
We’re talking strong drinks, tasty eats, and a wildly diverse crowd that makes everyone feel right at home—whether you’re rocking a leather jacket or a feather boa.
The brunch crowd? Packed. The energy? Electric.
Champagne bottles popped like confetti cannons, and the buffet was stacked with all your Sunday cravings.
After loading up our plates, the buzz of anticipation was almost as strong as the buzz from our second round of mimosas.
Then Veronika appeared, and baby—she owned it.
With sharp wit, jaw-dropping looks, and enough charisma to light up the room without flipping a switch, she kept us laughing, gasping, and clapping like proud aunties at a dance recital.
And the performers? Absolute stars.
I’m talking Brionna Brooks, Natasshja Norielle, Stevie Aura, Lady Inferno Diamond, Sanguine Visage, and Mars Soleil—all bringing their A-game and then some. Each queen performed three numbers, and every single set was a head-turning, hair-flipping, jaw-dropping masterpiece.
