Blitzen's - A Christmas Pop Up

Nothing gets you in the holiday mood like an evening out with friends in a spot where the walls are literally wrapped with cheer.

And tinsel. So much tinsel.

A few years back, the owners of Hudson's restaurant on North Main Street decided a pop-up holiday bar was just what Santa ordered, and Blitzen's was born.

The bar transforms into a winter wonderland where every hall, wall, and imaginable surface is decked out to the max and filled with festive fun.

It takes an impressive amount of man (or elf?!?) hours to make this happen, and the menu gets plenty of Christmas magic, too.

With creatively named drinks like "Frosted Pole Licker" "Santa's Boot Warmer" and "Cousin Eddie's Eggnog" you know you're in for a good time.

We did our best to stay on Santa's good side while we sampled a responsible plethora of cocktails and plenty of shared plates of delicious food from their menu.

The Fraa-Gee-Lay Soft Pretzels were a unanimous favorite, and you know we had to try The Grinch's Smashed Sliders.

Perfection with a side of fries.

All their regular menu items are available too, so we had a little of everything with no shortage of laughter.

It's easy to get into the holiday spirit when you're surrounded by vintage glowing snowmen, leg lamps, and a booty-shaking grinch that peaks through the front windows.

In short, the best bet for a good time is to gather a group of your friends, new and old, and head over to Blitzen's for a night of serious fun.

Get there early because those lines can be reminiscent of a Black Friday closeout sale and this place doesn't take reservations.

They're open Wednesday - Saturday through December 30th.

Then, like all good things, it comes to an end.

Until next year, anyway!

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to get festive with me.

I hope you love the photos as much as I loved spending the evening with each of you.
